Kekloksi located at the sprawling Crane hill in town down Ayer Itam, and the entrance into the temple sit just next to the Sungai Air Itam. It start with an ascending walking pathway, with stalls selling souveniors, trinkets and local products on both sides of the pathway.
The pathway leads to the Tortoise Liberation Pond, also called the Tortoise Pond. This remain one of the main attraction of Kek Lok Si Temple from early days. There are easily hundreds of tortoise in the pond. Visitor can buy water convolvulus from vendor nearby to feed to thortoise.
One point of interest visitor must not miss is a long poem inscribed on a huge round boulders by famous scholar from Tang Dynasty
